Friday... Giveaway!!

I am feeling pretty yuck right now, and really don't have the energy for a Friday Five this week. So! In lieu of actual content, I give you a CONTEST. Not just any old contest. Nope. This is the super-sekrit contest I teased about mentioned a while back. Here's what you can win:

An ARC of THE DEMON'S LEXICON by Sarah Rees Brennan. The book releases in June 2009, but here's your chance to read it early. First let me tell you a few things:

1) Sarah's book could easily be one of the best books of 2009. And it hasn't even come out yet.
2) You will fall in love with these characters. I did. Although I loved Nick & Alan, our demon-hunting brothers, I found myself growing very fond of one of the supporting characters - Jamie. Despite how dark some of the book is (in a good way!), it's Jamie's sense of humour and constant one-liners that had me laughing out loud. On the bus. So embarrassing... *g*
3) There is a mystery at the heart of the book - actually, mysteries within mysteries - that are so much fun to try to figure out. Hint: you'll think you've done it, but you probably won't get it right.
4) Demon's rock!
5) Mae, the love-interest (for want of a better expression), is so much more than just that. I loved how well-rounded and independent she was. Strong, believable female characters in YA fiction ftw!

Oh, look... I did a Friday Five after all. :)

The giveaway is for my UK ARC of THE DEMON'S LEXICON. That means you don't get the gorgeous cover art. Sorry! This edition has a plain purple cover (but is handsome in its own way) and looks like this. The lovely [info]sarahtales has also given me some sexy black Demon's Lexicon bookmarks, so I'll include a signed bookmark with the ARC. Um... signed by Sarah, obviously. Not me.

All you have to do to win is leave a comment telling me why you want to win this book (you can be serious or funny, or even srsly funny, but you have to give me a reason) by the end of the day (anywhere) Monday 2nd March 2009. I will draw the winner - or Random.org will - sometime on Tuesday 3rd March. This contest is open to all anywhere in the world, even if you've won something from me before. Get commenting!

Let's see... I want to win this book because anything with demon-hunting brothers has got to be good. I mean, look at the Winchester brothers. ;)

Oh, besides, you've said such great things about it, how could I resist the temptation?

Have a great weekend!

I want this book because I've been super excited about it ever since Kristin Nelson first mentioned it on her blog last year.

I would LOVE to win this book because, I must humbly confess, I do not have any books in my TBR pile that involve demons. I know, how can this be? I have lots of historical, fantasy, contemporary, romance, but NO DEMONS. And this book sounds like 'the one' to read :-)

I want to win this book in a desperate, needy sort of way because I have heard such terrific things about it from friends including [info]jenlyn_b and [info]seaheidi and I have absolutely no other way to get my hands on it before June. And June seems so very, very far to me right now that I could cry.

I want. I need. I desire. I grovel. I beg.
I'll even crawl under your sink and do plumbing work if you want:)

Okay *rubs hands together* Let's try to win again XD!

I would love to read it because I'm going into ARC withdrawal. 6 years of getting new books and now laid off because of the economy....*sigh*

I want to read this book because I loved the teasers Sarah posted, and because when I read a book like this for just a while my aged, sorry ass, arthritic bones, crappy eyes, saggy face all blur away and I'm sixteen again, and in love with a book, a world, and most of all the magic of possibility. And because I love to laugh.

demon hunting brothers and a mystery - sounds like my kind of book! That is why I want to read it, who needs anymore reason than that. I can't wait to read it.

I want to win this book because it's NOT MY KIND OF BOOK. I'm not into urban fantasy, I'm not into stuff with romance, I'm not into sexy YA ass-kicking paranormal. And yet, when I read the query that got this book its agent (on the Pub Rants blog), I stuck it right on my to-read list. Maybe it's the humour, maybe it's the focus on complex family relationships, or maybe it's just the sense of genuine spark, but I'm waiting for this one.

Because I'm doing a study to see if random.org will EVER allow me to win something.
OK, also because the book sounds really good.

First off...Yay bookmarks! I would adore one and actually need one too lol. But this sounds like an awesome book. I'd love a chance to read it because I've been seriously lacking in the demon department when it comes to my reading choices. I need to get back on track and I have also been caught laughing out loud many a time while reading, I think it's fun (=

Hey, Karen, I hope you feel better soon.

Wow, what a great contest!

Why do I want to win this book? Because I've heard it's the most marvelous read...and not just from you. And, also because I can't afford very many books now because real life took a massive dump on me.

Have a great weekend...and feel better.
