I'm almost done with the first (pretty raw) draft of BEAUTIFUL GHOSTS. Of course, now that I've almost finished it in 3rd-person, past tense, I am thinking of switching to 1st-person, present tense during revisions. Heh. I always do this...

Just wondering if anyone has thoughts on 1st-person, present tense POV? And especially any recommendations in the YA field - any subgenre of YA is fine. Doesn't have to be paranormal.

The Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba bray is an excellent example of this POV. It begins with A Great and Terrible Beauty and is a great read!

Mine's written in first person, present as well. I'd never written that way before this book, but my MC spends much of the book trying to figure out the riddle of the Prophecy, and I really wanted the reader along for the ride, you know? I wanted it to feel... immediate, I guess, and for the reader to discover things as the MC did.

*blushes* Thanks, that's my first professional publication but it's just a story in the anthology. :) Great company, though: Holly Black, Libba Bray... I am amazed to be in there! (Am on submssion with my agent re. novels.) Oh, the antho comes out late July.

Yes, there is WAY too much online stuff. I haven't even tried FB or Myspace. If I sell a novel, then I suppose I'll have to... ;)
