Totally Random ♥ Post

WonderGirl-hearts
I've been busy in Real Life lately, catching up with some old friends (which has been brilliant!) and running the usual errands. Not to mention keeping my eye on the flat-rental situation. It's looking more and more like I'll have to wait until the New Year to move. So, in lieu of a meaningful update I give you...

3 Things/People I ♥ Right Now:

True Blood, which finally came to Channel 4. Love, love Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse. Yes, I'm aware this might be a controversial opinion, but I'm not afraid of a bit of controversy. ;) I actually think she does a great job with the role, bringing something new to Sookie while still retaining much of the quirkiness that Charlaine Harris gave to the character in the original Southern Vampire Mysteries. Please, no spoilers as I've only just started Season One.

♥ This new book cover (click to view larger version):

How beautiful is that? :) Check out Nicole Peeler's blog for more information about the second book in her brand new series.

♥ Totally lovin' Jordan Summers for sending me an ARC of this:

It's the final book in the Dead World trilogy, and I can't wait to see how it all ends up for Gina, Morgan, and of course Raphael Vega (who I confess is my favourite character *g*). Thanks, Jordan! The book officially releases next month, so there's not long to wait for everyone else...

Eee! Sookie! Yippee!
My dear old thing! (You can tell I listen to too much cricket on the radio since I tend to quote a cricket commentator to express great appreciation. Yep, I'm a Sad Loser.)

Thank you so much for that link! I love the Sookie Stackhouse stories, and I hadn't realised that Channel 4 had bought the series. I will be staying up far too late tonight watching it, since there's only 1 day to go before the first episode disappears from the website.

Bah! Who needs sleep, eh?

Re: Eee! Sookie! Yippee!
You are NOT a Sad Loser at all. :)

Yep, Channel 4 are finally showing it - I am very happy! Might even record a few episodes and watch them all together. More fun that way! :)

True Blood is my favorite thing. I'm OBSESSED with one of the characters, but I won't say anything in case you haven't gotten there yet :-P

Ooh... I probably haven't got there yet. I'll have to see if I can guess! :)

Hehe, I *think* you'll know when you do. Do guess, I want to see if you can get it ;)

BTW--did you know the guy who plays Jason Stackhouse (Sookie's brother) is British? I was so surprised, since his American southern accent is flawless.

Isn't the guy who plays Bill British, too?

Haha, yes, he is. But his American accent is nothing special :P

And that is all I'll say. :)

I wasn't too impressed with either the books or the tv show, but I like Anna Paquin as Sookie.

Wow, both covers are awesome! Let us know how the last Dead World book is!

I was never a huge fan of those early books in the series, but maybe I'll revisit them. It's been a while..

I'm a little over halfway through season 1 of TRUE BLOOD (thank you Netflix) and I'm loving it too! Even got hubby to watch! :)

I watched it with my mum when I went to visit, and she loved it too! :)

Oh, I love TRUE BLOOD. It rocks. And you're right, Anna Paquin does a great job as Sookie. Also, I saw Nicole Peeler's cover yesterday and even had to show the hubby last night because I think it's STUNNING! :)

Have a great day!

I wish I could afford to buy the dvd of True Blood, but never mind... I'll have to enjoy it each week and live with the suspense! ;)

I'm borrowing from a friend. Need to give it back soon, I've had it for over a month and still haven't finished watching it.

Gawd, I love True Blood - have just finished first series so am totally bereft. So many genuine laughs at Justin. Oh, and not spoilerish but the scene in the graveyard.... that's all I'm saying!

Beautiful covers, btw.

It's brilliantly written, for sure. Really makes me laugh - I love dark humour. :)

I just starte watching season one also. I'm not sure what I think of the Sookie character in this series. Somehow I never pictured her as quite so "snippy", or downright rude to others as she's portrayed in the series. I always had the feeling that her Grandma taught her better manners than that. Other than that I kind of look on the series as a little "campy". It's good if I don't compare it to the books too much.

I know what you mean re. Sookie in True Blood, but I have to say I saw her that way in the books, too. She didn't take any crap from anyone, right from the first book. She could be quite sharp-tongued with people, I think.

I have to say that I didn't love the books and only read the first two. I might revisit them, now that I'm loving the show so much! :)

What do you think of her brother's character (Jason?). They sure do focus on his "tomcatting" don't they? My favorite character in the tv series is Tara's cousin (of course I can't remember the name).
I always thought of Sookie as strong willed, just not so in-your-face about her strengths. It might just be me, but when I watch Sookie she sounds stupid and rude. I like the the other characters in the show, but not Sookie so much, yet anyway.

Yes, that's very true about Jason. So far I haven't seen enough episode to really have an opinion on him. He seems okay...

I love who they cast as Bill and the hot blond vampire leader. Ana I think is quite dumbing herself and that irritates me to a point, but otherwise she is watch able in general. I haven't read the novels so I can't compare much.

That's part of the books/character, that she purposely plays a little 'crazy' so that people don't figure out that she can read their minds. I think...

She is SO much better as Sookie than she ever was as Rogue.
