Wonder Woman
The Day Job is taking up a lot of time. In fact, so much time (and energy) that I was very tired this weekend and just wanted a break. I didn't start my revisions on BEAUTIFUL GHOSTS as planned.

But! I did start researching and planning my next project. I've decided that while I'm waiting, waiting, waiting to hear news from the distant Land of Publishing, I can at least keep writing. So as well as digging into the revisions on Moth's book as soon as I can, I already know what I'll be working on next. I've done some research and my main character is starting to tell me interesting things.

I think, though, that this book will take longer to write. The first draft may need a more gradual process - I can feel it, somehow. It's going to be the first London novel I attempt, and it's exciting making lists of all the places I have to check out in the name of research. Research trips = the fun part of being a writer! :)

Agent M said that she'd "love to see a London book" from me (huzzah!), so now I just need to find the perfect LJ icon for it. And a title...

...in research mode.

SOUL TRADER has morphed into something I never expected, but perhaps secretly hoped for. It probably means tossing out a lot of what I've already written, but that's okay. I think, after my post yesterday at the Deadline Dames, that I at least have to give this strange mashed up version of SOUL TRADER, BLACK NEON DREAMS and the old post-apocalyptic road-trip novel a chance. I have to try, and the way I see it? I have a week until I meet Agent M in London, meaning I need to get things clear in my mind so I can pitch it to her over dinner! *g*

Which means lots of fun research, brainstorming and maybe even proposal-writing.

All that, and I just agreed to do overtime in the Day Job because there is so much to do before the website launches. Especially considering that we lose a week when I go to the RT convention.

I feel as though my head is spinning... But it's not all bad! I love that ideas are whirling in my mind again, and I love that I (day-)dreamed up a fantastic new character while travelling home from work today. :)

ETA: I also meant to say that I owe [info]triciasullivan a HUGE "thank you." She said some very helpful things re. this project in email. So... um... thanks! And yes, Trish, I know I still have to explain just what the hell I mean by "mashup"... ;)
