Oh god, where to start?
1) Okay, here. I finished this:

I cried twice - and I hardly ever cry at books. It feels like this could be my favourite book by Melissa Marr, but I'll need to give things time to 'settle' and maybe think about it for a while. The world that Melissa introduced us to in WICKED LOVELY just expanded in so many ways, and I loved it. Loved it!! Apart from the fact that we (finally) get Seth's POV of events as they progress (yay!), we also learn more about Niall (though not from his POV) - *sigh* Niall... And we're introduced to the Queen of the High Court of Faerie, Sorcha. Yeah, Sorcha could be my new favourite character and I can't wait to read more about her. Um... sorry, I'll stop gushing now.
2) I am late posting today (again) because of the Migraine of Doom (tm). ARGH! Stupid headaches... I went to the pharmacist at my local chemist today, and I'm trying the strongest thing you can buy over-the-counter. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely go to my doctor about how many migraines I've been getting lately.
3) Forgot to link to this the other day. There's a new blog in town for Supernatural fans. Five published authors proud to call themselves Supernatural Sisters, posting every weekday on the Joys of the Winchester Brothers.
4) Last night's event at Forbidden Planet was so much fun. I loved meeting some of the cream of British speculative fiction - all the authors I chatted to were down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I was a bit worried that I cornered poor Mark Chadbourn for too long, but he was gracious in the face of my barrage of chatter. (Hey, I was nervous! *g*)
I also met debut authors Alex Bell and Jaine Fenn and was 'persuaded' to buy their books, so I'll say more about them later. For some great pics of the event, check out Liz's main blog.
As I said yesterday, we were lucky enough to be invited to David Devereux's book launch party at the Phoenix Club afterwards, and we felt Very Cool to be hanging out with all those author-types. ;) Thanks for the invite, Suzanne! Oh, and talking of
suzannemcleod, I got her to sign an extra copy of her brilliant debut, The Sweet Scent of Blood, and I'll be giving that away soon.
5) And finally, this:
Just because... :)

*sigh* I'll get the confession out of the way first, otherwise people will only scroll down to find it anyway... ;)
I have been watching this:

Okay, maybe I've been watching a lot of this:

I can't help it! Once I get my teeth into something my naturallyOCD passionate tendencies come out. I've perfected the art of watching an episode in about 35 minutes, by running through a few scenes here and there (but still watching the action in double-speed), and um... I might've just finished Season Three. *hangs head* Hey, it was only 16 episodes - which I cranked out in about 8 or 9 hours over three evenings. Now I'm sad because I have to wait for Season 4 (no spoilers!!).
ETA: Did I say something about having to wait to find out what happens in Season 4? Ah YouTube, how I love thee... *has shifty eyes*
In the meantime, I can get back to doing what I'm supposed to be doing - writing. Oh I've done some, sure. But not as much as I should've been. I admit I've found it hard to concentrate, what with TIW out on submission and all... But now that I can finally quit obsessing over SUPERNATURAL for a while, I'm back in the game. I even wrote a couple of pages before I'd had any coffee today. Take that, evil procrastination! I'm working on TWQ and BND at the same time (sort of), just to see which one takes off first.

Busy, busy... Luckily, whatever I felt sick with on Monday didn't turn into anything major, which meant I was fine to hang out with Caitlin (
blackaire) yesterday. We went to see Quantum of Solace, and I loved it. We both enjoyed the movie, and I can't say I understand too much of the criticism that I've seen around the internet. Okay, so it wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but it didn't fall too far short. There were some wonderful moments of classic Bond-humour, as well as some great new supporting characters (especially the girls! *g*). Daniel Craig is awesome as Bond, and he really does repressed grief brilliantly. It was also fun to take Caitlin to the Odeon in Leicester Square, the cinema where all the West End premieres take place.
After dinner, ice-cream (yep, in mid-November) and more wandering - including a great photo of Caitlin with a Dalek (I'll post it at the weekend) - I said goodbye to her, knowing that she'll be back in Seattle today.
---
So there was no writing yesterday, but I did manage 752 words when I got in from work today, to add to the 1k I did on Monday. If I write just one more page tomorrow morning before I go to the shop again, that means I've earned myself episode 6 of Supernatural. ;)
YA urban fantasy - BND:
8878 / 60000 words. 15% done!
Also, as I'm still finding my way with this new routine - and I now have my very own 'Supernatural' Rewards System(tm) to help inspire my writing - I think I'll just forget about sweating with Sven (aka. Seventy Days of Sweat). I seem to be doing okay with the Winchester brothers as my creative companions...

I'm on a roll with this whole Supernatural thing. First of all, Season One's 5th episode scared the crap out of me last night. It's my own fault for watching it all alone in the dark... It was the 'Bloody Mary' episode. *shivers* First one to genuinely creep me out - I've always had a fear of mirrors in the dark. Great stuff, though! :)
With this in mind, I've decided to turn Supernatural into a reward for writing. I'll have to do this, otherwise there's a danger I'll just burn through the rest of Season One and forget I'm supposed to be writing a first draft by the end of January. For every 1,000 words I write from now on, I can watch one episode of SPN goodness. I think that's pretty fair. So on a very good writing day, that means I can watch two episodes back-to-back. I started last night after I'd squeezed out 1,001 words (just made it).
The more words I write, the more I get to see of the Winchester brothers...

OMG... Must. Write. Faster.

...for the first time. Yeah, I know, I'm behind the times. I've only seen the first 4 episodes of Season One, so no spoilers please. I usually try to avoid any LJ posts about the later seasons, in the hope that I will one day catch up. But it made me laugh when I noticed the number plate on Dean's car:

It's me! I like that... The Winchester boys have a Kaz-mobile. *g*
